Alex Davis

Assistant Vice Chancellor, Rancho Santiago Community College District

During a 5-month tenure as Vice Chancellor (July 2022 to December 2022) within the Educational Services Division at Rancho Santiago Community College District, Alex Davis, PhD, assumed administrative responsibility for various facets of the division’s programs including the District’s Information Technology Services; Research and Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness; Resource Development; Communications and Graphic Design; the Orange County Regional Consortium (OCRC), and Child Development Services. Returning to her permanent role as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Economic and Workforce Development, Davis now leads and oversees the OCRC spanning four community college districts and 10 community college institutions. Her duties encompass collaborative work with regional leadership to advise on Strong Workforce Program investments, as well as participation in the implementation and assessment of the Regional Collaboration and Coordination Grant that supports the regional consortium. This grant undergirds career pathway development strategies and facilitates employer engagement across all industry sectors within the regional consortium.

 

Previously, Davis made history as the inaugural executive director of the Los Angeles Orange County Regional Consortium (LAOCRC), a coalition comprising 29 community college institutions spanning 15 districts from May 2018 to December 2021. Prior to this role, she served as an instructional dean in Academic Affairs at Los Angeles City College for a decade, providing leadership across various domains including the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Adult Education, Career Technical Education, academic instructional programs, categorical programs, and grant and resource development. Before her tenure at Los Angeles City College, Davis directed the Small Business Development Center at El Camino College, preceded by her work at the Small Business Development Center regional office at Long Beach City College, covering multiple counties in California. Before transitioning to the public education sector, she held positions at Johnson Publishing Company, Inc. renowned for publications such as Jet and Ebony Magazine. She covered Southern California, Arizona, and Nevada for the company’s cosmetics division of Fashion Fair Cosmetics.

 

Most recently, Davis was honored at the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Estrella Awards, receiving the Dr. Juan Francisco Lara Education Award to recognizes her commitment to the Hispanic community through the support, advancement, and education of Hispanic youth, small business, and corporate partnership to promote long-term academic and/or professional success. Beyond her professional commitments, Davis has assumed national, statewide, and regional board roles with New Ways to Work, the California Foundation of Aging, the City of Los Angeles’ Workforce Development Board, and just recently ended her board tenure with UNITE-LA. She is dedicated to mentoring both professionals and students in their career endeavors and has delivered numerous conference presentations in the spaces of economic and workforce development, and career education. Davis is widely recognized as a leading authority in academic and workforce development, driven by her commitment to excellence. Central to her leadership philosophy is the belief that fostering an environment where individuals feel empowered to take risks is essential for achieving success.

 

During her leisure time, Davis enjoys quality moments with her family, alongside her passion for writing and publishing drama/mystery books and academic works. She holds a doctorate in higher education leadership from California State University, Long Beach.
