Congratulations to Leadership Awards alumna Dr. Elaine Batchlor (2019) for her appointment to the University of California Board of Regents! Dr. Batchlor has been Chief Executive Officer at MLK Community Healthcare since 2012. She was Chief Medical Officer at L.A. Care Health Plan from 2004 to 2012, and Vice President and Program Officer at the California Health Care Foundation from 1999 to 2003.

Dr. Batchlor received a 2019 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award in recognition of her work defining excellence and equity in healthcare. As one of Gov. Newsom’s four 2022 appointees, she joins Leadership Awards alumnus Eloy Ortiz Oakley (2014) and James Irvine Foundation Board Member Maria Anguiano on the UC Board of Regents.

The Regents comprise the governing board of and set the policy and educational direction for the University of California (UC) — one of the largest and most influential university systems and health systems in the nation.

In MLK Community Healthcare’s announcement, Dr. Batchlor shares, “Training the next generation of diverse leaders, fostering innovation and delivering the highest quality healthcare are all causes dear to my heart. I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board to maintain and elevate these strengths of the UC system.”
